My Own Private Moon 2016

My Own Private Moon curated by Karrie Ross September 2016

My Own Private Moon curated by Karrie Ross September 2016

This is the final hanging of the show. Deceptive it might have been with my request to paint a Moon. My curatorial vision extended not only to from the individual Moon work being created but to the final hanging of sets and the vibration of the coming-together.

The Moon theme was suggested to me about a year ago after a piece I did for the Waterworks II show in Ojai finished so beautifully, the connection I had with water, the moon, science interaciton, global warming, axis changes, and the human element spurred me on and extended my vision. My focus all along was for a traveling show, Galleries, Museums, college galleries, public spaces, please contact me with any interest, I have several ideas for extended iterations planned. So Happy to have been included in this years show put on by the Friends of Redondo Beach. Thank you for including me.

Soft Sculpture Installation: “In-Between” — We live our lives in the in-between… birth to death; morning to night; breath to breath; thought to thought not really aware of the power it holds. Time enters and leaves a door open for that “something” to happen and we live, we see, we observe, we choose, and change… in the “in-between” of the “what-is”.

We find ourselves literally squishing “stuff” into that time opening, sometimes to over-flowing into over-whelm. Continue reading

Oneria Opening at Studio C

oneria-huff-post-john-seed-2I am so honored and humbled to be part of this show with so many talented women… the art was stunning… and Peggy Nichols a wonder of a woman who organized it. There was plenty of exposure and the event was well attended and several artworks sold. Overall a great show to the end. The even was planned inconjunction with the Annual Santa Fe Arts Colony art weekend.

Book 1 : Our Ever Changing World: What are You Saving from Extinction

Art is passion exposed.

OECW_logo-72

A series of currently 3 books about artists intended to answer questions I’ve carried around with me for awhile. All having to do witht he art world and the who, what, why, how, when of artists.

Book One:

For 9 months, I worked on an art project in the form of organizing a book… about artists, a piece of their work and a story. Book #1 of 4, they are based on questions I’ve been carrying around in my mind: First Question is: What are You Saving from Extinction? and I invited 35 artists to join in on the conversation and share their story.

The project originated with my inquiry into “why always an artist statement and not a story?” The book took several paths while I was firming up my focus and the artist were **very kind** and stayed the course as I grew into it and the book morphed into what it is now. ****** Without the artists generous efforts, the book would not have been possible, I am very grateful to you all, thank you again.

Book One, covers my thinking that artists “save” something from Continue reading

OECW: Book 1: Vromans Book Signing 2013

OECW: Book 1: Vromans Book Signing 2013

The book signing was designed as the first step in many to promote the book “Our Ever Changing World: Through the Eyes of Artists: “What are you saving from extinction?”

Stories are the spice of life.
When sprinkled around create a mood,
something that feeds imagination.
Stories share you.
~Karrie Ross

Our Ever Changing World: Through the Eyes of Artists, began with an inquiry into the quote by Frida Kahlo. “I paint flowers so they will not die.” Then the project grew into the question of “What are you saving from extinction?” and finally morphed into a sharing of stories, a special moment-in-time in an artists’ life. A possible aha! moment of awakening and connecting for them.
